The portrait of @annatfabulous stage two. “I scribbled, drew shoes…” – Alexander Wang
The original portrait of my daughter, Anna, was started at my March 26, 2011 art event at Holt Renfrew. Tonight I added to it, matured the face and added a very appropriate quote by Alexander Wang (it could have been written by Anna herself): Oil pastel, linseed oil on birch wood panel FROM OPUS
Foreshadowing upcoming art events: The portrait! Time-lapse photography (model: Chad)
Model: Chad Francouer TIME LAPSE VIDEO (by Julian Bowers): There is a tension in the portrait between maximum likeness on the one hand and idealization for the purpose of show on the other. Roland Kanz

The Giving Tree- is that me? Time for #selfcare
PRACTICE REFUELING, COCOONING, CELEBRATING YOURSELF, EXQUISITE SELF-CARE. A few years ago, my therapist was helping me through a particularly rough patch as I was being pulled in a million directions in my role as caregiver. She gave me The Giving Tree to read and asked, “Which character are you?” It was obvious to me…

My “mormor” Stina. @annatfabulous’s predecessor
My grandmother Stina (mormor, mother’s mother) LOVED fashion. As does my daughter, Anna. Anna’s talent for fashion is definitely from Stina. Here’s a favorite photo I have of Mormor. She’s on your left, having a silly time with her sisters in early 1930’s Sweden.

A very private piece finished by you in a very public way. An artwork’s 4 year journey. #grief #Frida #Camille
Recall my March 5 post: This piece is a love letter to my dear dance partner and friend (dancer/artist/scientist) Claudia Camille, who died in 2007… Claudia and I are portrayed in our roles we played so often: me in grief as Frida Kahlo, Claudia stoic and determined as Camille Claudel… Her reasons for leaving were profound…
