San Francisco Journal Excerpt: Romeo and Juliet, San Francisco Ballet @sfballet

I will continue to share my incredible weekend in San Francisco (that I spent with my daughter and her friends) through a series of portraits and journal entries over the next few weeks.

My daughter, Anna, surprised me on March 10, 2012 with tickets to San Francisco Ballet‘s Romeo and Juliet!

I used to be a dancer and lived at the theatre, watching or performing, cried over bleeding toes, dreamed desperately of being a professional, turned down an invite to study in NY at age 17… You get the picture.

So being in the SF Ballet Opera House, watching high art, was FANTASTIC.

The audience was fabulously snotty.  The gift shop a frenzy.  The orchestra perfection and the dancers- GLORIOUS.  I even loved that the woman beside me snapped at her friend for asking STUPID questions.  And how she groaned when I had to get by.
