With love and gratitude in my heart and soul, I say thank you to my parents and hello to our mutual dreams.

Missing them feels similar to claustrophobia sometimes.  But the missing is infused with deep gratitude for the childhood and camaraderie they gave me.

In 2012, my father knew, before he died, that we had fulfilled our goal of creating a book, and I am eager to finally share Drawn Together with the world- just a few weeks from now!

My next book, Molly, is a project my mother was deeply passionate about and my parents and I researched Vancouver history together.

It’s a remarkable healing process for me to carry on “our work.”

There were so many epic, powerful, joyous, deep, difficult, wonderful experiences in 2012 but truly, for me, the best was watching my children living their dreams, traveling the world, pursuing their passions. I love being a mom.

San Francisco Journal: Portrait #5 Joseph @killian #deepchats

I will continue to share my incredible weekend in San Francisco (that I spent with my daughter and her friends) through a series of portraits and journal entries over the next week or so.

One of my main reason for traveling to San Francisco was to have deep chats with Joseph.

And I’m pleased to say, we had a good start.  But only a start.  SO MANY MORE CHATS NEEDED!

Here are just a few highlights of my weekend with my second son.  You can tell how much he and Anna love each other!

Brunch at Brenda’s

Saturday dinner at Joseph's house with an extraordinary feast by Diana and Elizabeth in honor of Chinese New Years! 18 guests, full bellies, happy hearts!

I will continue to share my incredible weekend in San Francisco (that I spent with my daughter and her friends) through a series of portraits and journal entries over the next few weeks.

I was especially excited to finally meet TONY on this trip.

He and I have been online friends for awhile now.  Tony is a dear friend and mentor to my daughter.  He also supports my art and passions and to finally meet him in person was, indeed, a glorious treat!!!

We started the evening with fabulous Italian food at Poesia with Anna and Joseph…

… then headed to Mollie Stone’s to purchase dessert…

Finally, we spent the rest of the evening gorging on chosen dessert…

… and doing some interactive art (more on that later) and sharing shits and giggles at Anna’s place with Tony and David (more on them later too)!

Tony is full of enthusiasm for people, adventures, life!  Infectious!

My portrait of Tony's "Lilly" (extra L added later!)

From one Old Queen to another, I love you, Tony.

Brunch at Brenda’s

San Francisco journal excerpt: Brunch at Brenda’s with @annatfabulous and @killian

I will continue to share my incredible weekend in San Francisco (that I spent with my daughter and her friends) through a series of portraits and journal entries over the next few weeks.

On the morning of March 10, 2012 [after a night of deep chats] my daughter Anna and my second son, Joseph, took me for brunch at Brenda’s– a French Soul Food restaurant that literally is food for the soul!  Glorious!  My journal came along, naturellement.

Thanks for your empowering advice, Joseph!

The portrait of @annatfabulous stage two. “I scribbled, drew shoes…” – Alexander Wang

The original portrait of my daughter, Anna, was started at my March 26, 2011 art event at Holt Renfrew.

Tonight I added to it, matured the face and added a very appropriate quote by Alexander Wang (it could have been written by Anna herself):
