Saying goodbye by burning my art

Bitterness is like cancer. It eats upon the host. But anger is like fire. It burns it all clean. – Maya Angelou

In 2003 as I went through massive transitions in my personal life-  that included both loss and gains, heartaches and liberation- I purged by burning old pieces in a bonfire.  LIBERATING!!!

These pieces only exist on CD now.  Not sure where they are:

How do you think it helped you to burn these old works?

    1. As we were moving back to Vancouver and leaving the Coast and the marriage and life as we knew it behind- I went through my art inventory and found so many pieces had “melted” in the attic. Varnish had glued pieces together. I was also overwhelmed with the volume of art. Ad much of it was done at a time in my life that in that moment I couldn’t cherish. My instinct with certain pieces was to burn them- probably because what I really needed to do was LET GO. There were many reasons as to which pieces I chose. I had compromised so much up of myself for years up until then. Finally, I listened to MY HEART and used the pieces like a performance piece and did what I WANTED TO DO. It felt great. They were DONE. And it made me ready to leave.
