As we head into the last stretch of my Kickstarter, a gentle reminder: Kickstarter is all or nothing. If I don’t reach my goal, the project won’t be funded. And yet, whatever happens, I am profoundly grateful! And if I fall short, please know: your encouragement has already carried me so far. I’m honoured to share this journey with you.
Potato Nose: 1977 is the beginning of a larger legacy project: the development phase of a graphic novel based on the diary I kept at 14/15 — a raw mix of crippling shyness, queer longing, dance, art, shame, and survival in 1977 Stockholm and Vancouver. This project is my way of weaving all those adolescent threads into something honest and visually alive. The development phase would allow me the time for research, writing, visual exploration, scripting and storyboarding a 12–15 page prologue that will eventually grow into a 150-ish page creative non-fiction graphic novel.
