Frida Kahlo’s “Portrait of My Father,” 1951

Frida Kahlo’s father, Guillermo Kahlo (1871–1941), was born Carl Wilhelm Kahlo in Pforzheim, Germany, the son of Jakob Heinrich Kahlo and Henriette Kaufmann.

Dearest Daddy,

If you knew the pleasure getting your little letter gave me, you’d write to me every day, because you can’t imagine how happy it made me…

… Your daughter who adores you,

Frieducha

San Francisco, November 21, 1930
