“Recapitulation – Release” by Patti Henderson

September 24, 2023

Happy Autumn Equinox!

My friend and often art collaborator – Katarina – and I got together yesterday and did a fall equinox release – burn at the beach.

We wrote the things we wanted to let go of -release – on a piece of paper. Then we dug a pit in the damp sand and lit them on fire. When they were ashes, we covered the cold ashes with the wet sand.

Her paper fully burned, but mine… had a little left.

It started as the word ‘reluctance’ (as in “release my reluctance to let go so I can move and move on”).

I had been feeling in limbo with my move due to waiting for film work to start up again.

The letters left when my paper burned out:

Perhaps a message from the universe, a proactive sign?

Moving on will Re-Luc me?

Moving on will Re-Luck me!

We definitely achieved this yesterday:

‘It is important to honor a new reality and understanding, and acknowledge a new sense of maturity from all the recapitulating and releasing of the past you have done this month. Reflect on your decisions past and present, as with every decision made something is always left behind. We recommend a ritual where you complete something with a burning of a photo, letter or object that represents what you are releasing. Make sure you spend some time dreaming up what you wish to bring into this new cycle. Share with others and do something celebratory to acknowledge change, a new creative beginning and reset.’ – The Power Path
