We are setting out to create a mini documentary series to get the inside scoop on 100 girls’ and women’s lives from around the world.
The documentary takes the same topics of body, mind and spirit and shows the world the truth of women’s trials and triumphs through the telling of life from their various perspectives.
The questions posed will be the same but the answers, based on their environments, cultures and families, will be very different. They will experience challenges and successes in different ways.
We want to show how women are all connected, and can support each other despite these differences.

I’m planning an 6 x 10 canvas, which participants at the event will finish! Today, at Intersections Media, we did a photo shoot! The girls, who will be subjects in my piece, did some candid shots, which I will use as starting points. Fabulously inspirational!

Week 8 Part 1 Otto Dix
OTTO DIX:
Wilhelm Heinrich Otto Dix 2 December 1891 – 25 July 1969) was a German painter and printmaker, noted for his ruthless and harshly realistic depictions of Weimar society and the brutality of war. Along with George Grosz, he is widely considered one of the most important artists of the Neue Sachlichkeit. [source]
I adore the figures of Otto Dix.
I’ve posted about the following interactive art piece, Apologies to Otto Dix (Frida Kahlo/Otto Dix study), before. Its journey continues.
I started the piece awhile back and first allowed people to add to during my March 10th event, the April 3 outdoor art market, then my June 23 event, then with Tracey Bell and lately at ART HEALS! It’s still in progress.

Together we can increase participation in the arts
I LOVE SEEING WHAT PEOPLE DO TO MY ART DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR AN EVENT! By adding and changing they make it their own!
At my events in June, the subjects of portraits I had started were in attendance. The portraits were lined on the walls and art supplies were made available. The attendees finished the portraits during the events as part of a large interactive art therapy session celebrating the subjects and celebrating freedom of expression!!! At first I worried no one would dare add to the portraits. Needless to say, my worries were unwarranted!!!

EVENT 2: Art Hairapy
I strive to give to others a sense of sacredness, because an art event is not just a formal fact but also a moment where you put a mark on your dedication. You must have a feeling of joining a tribe where there is the stick of command, because you are in a sacred place with its rules. – Enzo Cucchi

DRAWN TOGETHER BY POST STREET LAUNCH 2013:
*Hosted by Anna T Fabulous
In partnership with SUKI’s, and hosted by Chad Francouer , my Sunday June 26, 2011 interactive art event: Art Hairapy at Suki’s on 16th and Granville, Vancouver BC!
The night is combined with Suki’s annual apprentice soirée and will feature a hair show, DJ, bar, live body painting etc! The hair show starts at 6:30!
Finish portraits of the fabulous stylists at Suki’s on 16th and Granville as we combine Suki’s apprentice soiree with this art event! Celebrate the therapeutic impact and art of sylists in our lives. By enhancing our exteriors they boost our interiors!
The night of the event there will be plenty of art supplies and all the participants will interact with the subjects who are in attendance and paint on the unfinished pieces as a big group art session. It’s an experiment. How people finish the pieces is unknown! It’s about letting go and sharing. Finishing with colors, painting on clothes, throwing on glitter, writing words, conversing! The pieces will continue to evolve for several weeks after the event as they continue to hang at the salon and are added to by staff and clients! The pieces will be on sale with proceeds going to the development phase of my new at-risk youth art therapy occupational training program!
Today’s example:
CHELSEA!
Recall my March 5 post: This piece is a love letter to my dear dance partner and friend (dancer/artist/scientist) Claudia Camille, who died in 2007… Claudia and I are portrayed in our roles we played so often: me in grief as Frida Kahlo, Claudia stoic and determined as Camille Claudel… Her reasons for leaving were profound and heartbreaking. She played a HUGE part in directions my life took and I tried to process her passing through this piece but somehow could never finish it.
At the March 10th art event, in the spirit of interactive art, participants added to the piece:
On March 31, my student Alicia continued on the piece, creating a womb-like effect:
This evening I pulled out my favorite bottle of white acrylic and added the finishing touch. I feel like my letter of grief is written. It is powerful and moving. This was an experiment in trust and letting go.
(22″ x 27″ on masonite board)
Dedicated to Claudia Camille Wöber, my gentle dance partner, who thrived with and deserved honesty and truth.
This event was born out of a conversation I had with my dear friend Diane Clement, who made me realize “YES, I CAN!”
What an evening of art and people supporting at-risk youth programs! Here are photos of art created by participants in our mega-art therapy session! I am also including feedback and my thank you’s below.
Host Rebecca working the room at the beautiful District 319 venue
In my art school (1980’s), teachers would not share their art work until the last day of the course so as not to influence us. I have found that allowing people to be surrounded by my art and creative process seems to make people at ease and encourage self-expression.
If anything, tonight has made me, and others, want to get our paints and canvases out and just…do this. – Jocelyn Louise (March 10th art event)
