Two years ago (July 2024) around this time, I was finishing up the artwork for my first graphic novel, Salt Green Death, which was released by Conundrum Press in May 2025. This past weekend, I completed the artwork for my second graphic novel, Full Bleed (a very special collaboration with writer Sea Conlin, scheduled for release by Conundrum Press in Spring 2027).
Ah-mazing!
Already in development are:
My third graphic novel project, Potato Nose: 1977, which will begin with a 16-page prologue comic, Potato Nose: Narratio Retrógrada/Potatisnäsa: Omvänd Ordning (self-published limited run September 2026);
My fourth graphic novel project (about my paternal grandfather), Occupation: The Long Shadow/Okkupasjon – Den Lange Skyggen that includes a special (and delicious) collaboration with my niece, Emma Varley ;
Another project is simmering: Kajsa: The Last letter Home;
and special 3-day event is in development connected to Salt Green Death!
At the same time, I’m looking ahead to new opportunities this fall, including expanding my craftivism practice while also pursuing opportunities in community-engagement and academic research.
Yesterday I spent the day digging through and organizing my art supplies. One of the most meditative parts was gathering all the worn-down pieces of china marker I’d used on Salt Green Death and Full Bleed, sharpening them, and putting them back in order. It’s satisfying to close one chapter, sharpen the tools, and begin the next.
