Recall: Part 1 JUST WRITE Part 2 DRAW OUT THE WORDS Part 3 HEART Now it’s time for practicing collage work in your journal. We’ll take a break from what we did in parts 1-3 and start on a new page. Gather some resources- images, pages from magazines, books etc. Scissors, glue, felts. Open your…
Part 3 daily journal workshop. HEART. #arttherapy
Recall: Part 1 JUST WRITE Part 2 DRAW OUT THE WORDS In part 2, we “drew out words” from by circling positive and negatives. Where do we feel our anxiety? I feel mine right in the heart. Recall my post on anxiety and depression where I illustrate that feeling. Now, sketch a human heart. You don’t…
Part 2 daily journal workshop. DRAW OUT THE WORDS. #arttherapy
Recall: Part 1 JUST WRITE Choose two different colored pens (or felts or pencil crayons)- one color representing positive, the other negative. I am picking red for negative (fear), green for positive (serene). There is no right or wrong. Just choose and go with your choice. Reading the words you wrote in part 1, circle…
Part 1 daily journal workshop. JUST WRITE. #arttherapy
Spend 15 minutes writing. Writing anything. ANYTHING. Even writing “I’m writing…” Keep the pen going. Make marks on the paper. Let your thoughts flow. Don’t worry about neatness or wit or good grammar or sense. Just move the pen over the paper. Open up. Unpeel some layers. Be ugly. Let your arthritic fingers cramp up….

Confess: The first light of the mornings are often hellish for many of us. Once the sounds of the day and the resonance of hope quiets the pain, we can meet the day with renewed enthusiasm [hopefully but unfortunately for some, the days and the nights are too painful]. Toolkit. Toolkit. Recall my post on…
Tattooing- step 1: plug it in and embrace beginner-hood.
Recall the purchase of a tattoo machine, getting to know the machine and tattooing- taking it seriously. My schedule has been so full of late that I haven’t had a chance to start up my machine until today. I am a beginner of the most beginner kind but we all have to start somewhere! I have dedicated…

PHOTOSHOOT recreating October 5, 1947 #graphicnovel #Vancouver
— — On the anniversary of Molly’s suicide [November 6, 1947], I spent the afternoon with Jocelyn Louise and Jay Fisher recreating the mood of October 5, 1947– the alleged date of the double homicide. I am so honored to work with these two- Jay is a master at styling the era, and Jocelyn channels…
My vision board is started. Perfect way to process this heavy day.
Woke up this AM feeling like my heart weighed a thousand pounds. Today is the 3rd anniversary of Mom passing away. I was lucky enough to spend the morning creating vision boards with Laura Mack, giving me a place and safe space to just be. I’m excited to watch the board develop and to reflect…

The letters of Frida Kahlo and how my daughter @AnnaTFabulous blurred art and reality.
My friend, Desmond Reid, surprised me with a DELICIOUS Frida Kahlo book the other day: My child, I really should not complain about anything that happens to me in life, so long as you love me… “Her writings reveal her precociousness, the intensity of her feelings, and her enduring physical distress: they unveil her personality…
